Review of Mad Max 2 (1981) by John M — 20 Jun 2016
Of course, I've seen it before, but a long time ago. This is actually titled Mad Max 2 but was changed to TRW for American audiences. Mad Max was a smash hit in Australia and the producers wanted to make the 2nd one more for America. So, b/c Americans had not heard of MM2, they came up with the new title. All real live action, no CGI. Even the guy who hits a car with a motorcycle and flies head over heels for 100 ft. Great action sequence of the tanker chase scene lasts over 13 minutes all at speeds of over 60 mph.
Gasoline is almost non-existent in post-apocalyptic Australia, so bands of thieves ride around trying to steal. A band of people who have an oil rig have converted thousands of gallons to gas and plan to drive it to the coast where they will live in paradise. Max finds this group and vows to help them obtain a truck that can haul the tanker. In return, he just wants his car back and all the "juice" he can carry. The band of thieves, headed by Humungus, plan to break into their compound and steal their gas. Needless to say, the ensueing battle is violent and awesome. A must see or see it again.
