Review of Mad Max (1979) by Aaron G — 12 Feb 2011
Grindhouse Australian film that became more popular in America after its sequel (The Road Warrior) came out and made a name for Mel Gibson. The action, acting, and gore are over-the-top and that is what makes it enjoyable.
It is interesting in the whole course of the Mad Max series to watch it go from a world with some law to the complete chaos of Beyond Thunderdome. Road Warrior is a better film (and was simply Mad Max II in other countries where the first Mad Max was better known), but Mad Max still is a great action picture in itself.
