Review of Mad Max (1979) by Jesse O — 26 Jan 2011
I find it really stupid that encore on demand is playing The Road Warrior (ie: Mad Max 2) and not have this one on demand as well. So I find out that this movie is playing on one of encore's channels.
So I decide to watch it, despite my not liking to watch movies at a channel's convenience. I like to watch movies at my own convenience when I have some kind of control. But anyway, this is a pretty good movie.
Again, as is evident with a lot of these movies, if I had been around when this movie first came out I'd have thought it was amazing. As it stamds, it's just a really good movie. The chase scenes are still fantastic though.
Story is not much and other than the costume design, this really doesn't look like a post apocalyptic world. Granted that may have to do with its budget, so it's easier to forgive that. The movie isn't also exactly the best at character development.
It's basically every revenge movie you've ever seen with the main character going after those who harmed his wife and his kid. And that is really about it. It's quite a good movie, but I didn't feel it was great.
Now I need to see The Road Warrior.
