Review of Mad Max (1979) by Nathan M — 15 Dec 2014
Even 35 years later, Mad Max holds up. I'd never seen this movie until today, and I found myself completely enthralled in this post-apocalyptic future. George Miller seems to have a pretty clear vision for this character and this world, and he delivers that vision despite his small budget.
With a career making performance from Mel Gibson, I understand why he was such a huge action star in his career. He's pretty fantastic in this, and so is the villain he has to face off against. Mad Max is the prototype for these kind of "road warrior" dystopian future films, and it is better than most I've seen.
