Review of Mad Max (1979) by Graham B — 18 May 2015
Revisiting the origins of a long winded franchise is never an easy road, Especially with an upcoming reboot/sequel/rehash. Worth a go though.
The premise is near future Australia. Set in the outback with the road police controlling road bandits, Our hero, Max, is the guy who gets shit done, but after bringing down a big bandit guy, the gang decides to go after him and all he loves,.
Let's deal with this on it's own really and on its own as a stand alone Cormanesque B-movie this is quite great. Gibson is a stunning star. Quite beautiful, yet completely believable as the wronged man. Not quite the madness his role demands tho, but the film fulfills as a b-movie action fest. Better is to come though.
