Review of Mad Max (1979) by Ville H — 23 May 2015
The one that started it all. Mad Max has great performances, amazing editing and cinematography, and a bleakness of the future that many films emulated for years to come. Unlike The Road Warrior (the 2nd installment in the series), which is essentially just a sublimely filmed car chase, Mad Max works as an action film, but it also has a strong story, something The Road Warrior didn't even attempt.
In my opinion, The Road Warrior has better action, but Mad Max is a better film.
