Review of Mad Max (1979) by John S — 05 Sep 2012
Mad Max does have some things going for it, such as spectacular action set pieces and chase scenes and intriguing characters and production design. However, the film feels completely muddled until the final 15 minutes of film, when the film finally becomes engaging.
On paper (and considering its reputation), Mad Max looks fantastic, but it feels so poorly executed that it's hard to appreciate. Overall, Mad Max is disappointing and a slight chore to get through, but even the final moments of the film aren't even worth it.
The action scenes and interesting setting may keep you entertained though.
