Review of Mad Hot Ballroom (2005) by Loss Leader X — 06 Jul 2005
:fresh: So some of the kids were rather cute (awww) and it was impressive the talent some of them had for that type of dancing. The story was interesting and the music was great. So what's not to like? Well first off, it seemed a little long.
Maybe not it minutes but at the beginning when before the competition the movie just seemed to keep repeating itself. The same type of footage was shown of the kids dancing and practicing, intersliced with momente outside the school with the kids talking about one thing or another.
Despite the rather redundant scenery the movie picked up pace by the end at the final competition. After viewing one dissapointment from another school it was nice to see this other underdog make it to the big leagues.
A nice little documentary that had a snazzy look to it, I just found myself fighting to keep my eyes open at times.
