Review of Mad Detective (2007) by Stephen C — 08 Feb 2011
Interesting Hong Kong police thriller directed in part by cult director Johnnie To.
Bun is a great detective and has a distintcly odd approach to police work but he gets results.
After he busts another case wide open ,he loses it slices off part of his ear and leaves the force.
Soon his services are required when another detective disapears and another loses his gun pursuing a susupect.
Trouble is Bun is still insane and claims to see the multiple personalities of other people.
The film is confusing in parts as you get to see these personalities which muddys the water even further.
But on the whole this film has enough going on to keep your interest high including a cracking finale.
Not vintage To then but still pretty slick.
