Review of Mad City (1997) by Cheryl N — 13 Mar 2007
It was so deliciously, morally wrong. here is a down-on-his-luck,shelved cunning reporter iching for his second break or comeback, if you will, and on the other, you have a simple(in every way possible), nutjob father who is armed but not all that dangerous and desperately wants his job back.
when his gun shoots off accidently at a ex coworker, the media manipulates the entire situation however they felt would sell best. it was a story MADE for tv. the ending scene was nicely done, with Hoffman's char stricken with useless guilt about Travolta's death by suicide.
he yell,"We killed him!" upon some after thought, I think we refers to the whole media, who all did have a hand in his death. it askes me one simple question, can we really trust what we see through the media, any media?
