Review of Machuca (2004) by Giselle 'Wednesday' C — 22 May 2009
The film follows the fall of Allende and the brutal rise of Pinochet in Chile during the 1970s, but a background in the social/political history of the country aren't necessary to truly appreciate it.
By telling the film through the perspective of two children, Machuca conveys the heartbreaking injustice and loss of innocence that results from the construction of class within a society.
