Machine Gun Preacher (2011).
Directed by: Marc Forster.
R, 2 hr. 3 min.
Release Date: September 23, 2011.
A well acted mini (unelaborated upon) biographical piece of Sam Childers (Butler) life struggle with the way his life took a turn. A second phase turn for an individual journey in distant lands.
Originally a turn from the lifestyle, the trials and torments of a lifestyle better described in a worst possible way, as this man left it behind (possibly embellished but not over emphasised sub-plot). I say this as is not a *spoiler* to know he is 'not fictitious' (because many do know of him and for what is doing) but rather you can`t know enough that this was a bad course of life for him before he found his calling. Many Bikies/rebels/freemen just don`t spiral it out of control in a way I guess he thought he could/would, so yeah there`s quite a picture in what was/always 'his' life perceived even retrospective (not as exciting as the real story of what he`s doing and how he went/still goes about it).
A nice effect of the adaptation/adoption to Christianity, being an old testament like describing evangelising as is mentioned as 'the fishers of men' to join in fellowship with the common beliefs. And is a direct depiction of that.
Synopsis: A guy changes his life, one whom has a family in tow and starts a business in construction, buys a home a new life`s start foundations. Then some land that goes to start his own congregation, supporting an ideal that to build an orphanage near the borders of Uganda is his true calling with its help. Child trading is rampant there and next door Sudan in an unethical way to the best of his knowledge (and mine if it`s true) against humanity. A modern worlds struggle for humane standards even when it`s not in thier best interests to uphold. So simply put in an end section quote by Sam to the effect of "if a terrorist like gang came to your home, took your children (if not your life as well) and then this man... (the 'Machine Gun' preacher, you know him as) came along and said 'I can go bring them home to you if you like' would you care how he goes and does it. I first thought maybe would`nt want to but I give him a gun to do it - is the very point I make, is the issue I would make out of it.
