Review of Machine Gun Preacher (2011) by Mark B — 27 Feb 2012
Fun, though seriously flawed movie. The standard "kids in danger" cliches are everywhere you look here, but my main grip is that Butler's conversion to Christianity could've been far more believable, and should've been far more time consuming.
The scene where he gets the motivation for his life's work, last all of about 1 minute, and his family's reaction to this news is laughable. Still, it was a nice action film, with a great moral behind it, even if you had to fill in some of the blanks for yourself.
I just wish it felt more genuine in its approach, it could've been something special with just a few more scenes displaying Butler's passion for these kids.
