Review of Machine Gun Preacher (2011) by Vedrana M — 10 Mar 2012
While bound to draw many criticism for being cliche war drama with a broken protagonist and a strong faith theme, this is still a great film. I appreciated that even though based on a true story about a real person, they did not sugar-coat the story of his faith and journey as being entirely upright.
And I like this bold way of portraying characters of faith in all their honest flaws. You can always count on director Marc Foster to be give an emotional depth to his films, and Gerald Butler is ever effective in his portrayal of the conflicting yet intense character of Sam Childers.
