Review of Machine Gun Preacher (2011) by Nic G — 09 Jun 2012
I actually enjoyed Machine Gun Preacher. The fact that is based on a real person makes it quite interesting. Gerard Butler is a great actor, although I think he should have forgotten about trying to speak with a southern accent.
It was awful. He would done better sticking to regular run of the mill American accent which he usually does a decent job at. Accent aside the story line was so-so but kept my interest. I was intrigued with whole African element and learning about the real struggles of the people of Sudan and Uganda.
Your heart goes out for them and as the ending credits point out approximately 400,000 people have been murdered and 40,000 people, many of them children, have been abducted and severely abused including being sold into sexual slavery.
I am very interested in reading more about Sam Childers and his real life story. I give this movie 3 stars.
