Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Baurushan J — 21 Nov 2013
Back in 2010 you may remember Robert Rodriguez's exploitative hit titled Machete which starred Danny Trejo as the title character and the film itself was in full gear, high action and delivered just about everything that a man would want.
Back then it had negative reviews but when critics and fans look on it now, they actually believe that the film is not as bad they thought it was. Now we get to the sequel and while it is still good, it is not as good as the first movie.
The story is about Machete who is recruited by the president of America played by some Charlie Sheen lookalike (not kidding) to take down a madman who is under the control of a billionaire arms dealer named Luther Voz played by Mel Gibson.
The film itself ends with a cliffhanger where Voz goes into space and Machete follows him setting up the sequel Machete Kills Again. The movie both the first film and the sequel were both criticized heavily because of the immigration message that both movies tried to hammer in, about the US won't allow Mexicans pass the border between USA and Mexico because it's illegal but the Mexicans say that they should pass the border and earn their freedom unless it is against the criminal law.
It's done poorly but it makes sense. Danny Trejo once again owns as the title character. We also get some new actors and actresses to play new roles. Sofia Vergara plays a man-hunting assassin and Amber Heard kicked ass as Miss San Antonio.
William Sadler has a short role as a sheriff before he gets gunned down and Tom Savini has a cameo as Osiris. There is also a plot about an explosive device being attached to the madman's heart which Voz had created and he also is planning to launch missiles and destroy Earth or something like that.
Machete Kills gets a 9.9/10.
