Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Thomas L — 03 Feb 2014
I have no idea which substance director Robert Rodriguez was abusing while writing the script for Machete Kills.. but it appears to have clouded his judgment. While the first one was amusing in a charmingly ridiculous sort of way, this sequel falls as flat as the syfy level digital violence.
The plot is incoherent, to say the least, and the actors flounder in it's soupy mess. While he does pay homage to some of his favorites, such as Escape From New York, Robert Rodriguez has failed to recreate any of the grindhouse magic that made his first installment worth watching.
Here's to hoping that the next machete will have little in common with this train wreck.
