Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Kadeem S — 16 Oct 2013
To be honest, I don't really care about Machete anymore. Now that the first movie's a B-movie success, why a sequel? I really hope that Robert Rodriguez shouldn't do a sequel unless you have a large set of Hispanic audiences and action geeks everywhere to pay tickets to see "Machete Kills.
" Look, Danny Trejo is 69-years-old now. He doesn't need a sequel. Let him choose a new title and then still kick some ass. The first film is one of my favorites including Lindsay Lohan's performance as a nun in the movie.
The problem with the new sequel is that the ladies are excellent, but Charlie Sheen as The President? Uh, Charlie or "Carlos Estavez," you might wanna reconsider after your horrible performance in Scary Movie V.
I thought Steven Seagal was way better than Charlie Sheen because we haven't seen Seagal in over a decade since Exit Wounds. But comparing to this and the sequel, it's really a bit awkward that Rodriguez hasn't even get enough attention as of late.
The sequel is far from a mess, it's just very disappointing. The acting is flawless, the action scenes were pretty dull, the script is completely recycled, and everything in between were useless. I hope DVD sales might be better.
So I'm gonna have to wait for a rental, but until then, I think Hollywood just needed to learn a lesson a thing or two.
