Review of Machete Kills (2013) by Grant G — 19 Feb 2014

I had quite a bit of love for the first Machete film but this one felt all over the place in all of the wrong ways. Despite the over-the-top action it isn't quite funny enough to play as a comedy and is far too silly to take as a serious, action/adventure film. Even on a technical film level, the movie abandons it's grindhouse traits and is presented far too glossily to make all of the B-movie outrageousness fit.

Robert Rodriguez seems to have really lost his way on this one.
