Violent, disgusting, and absolutely horrific in all the wrong ways, Machete may have the benefits of authentic visuals, a strong cast (particularly Danny Trejo in his first lead), and even plenty of action to go with a workable plot, but Robert Rodriguez's distrurbing taste for sickening content mostly overrides those positive aspects and turns it into a grim reflection of the declining quality of cinema.
