Perhaps they should have just left it as a trailer. Not that Machete isn't enjoyable, it is, but it should have been a lean mean exploitation pic. Instead its a rather drawn out affair with too many boring moments and some of the action is insipid and dull. The use of CGI blood effects is unforgivable and just comes across as lazy.
There is a lot to enjoy in the film, though you get the feeling it could have been a lot better.
