All the bits happening off-stage in the play are pushed right in your face here in this dark (in both senses) and really rather sumptuous film.
At l;east as sumptuous as a candlelit, mud covered drab world can be.
The film gathers momentum and is a rich experience with the action filling in any hard o figure moments from the text.
Recommended.
