Review of Mac and Me (1988) by Mitch W — 08 Dec 2012

Honestly, I was more disturbed by this movie than anything else. Some things that were meant to be cute came off as horribly disgusting or ridiculously out of taste. And yet, I saw the whole thing in one sitting.

I will give it a B- for effort, trying to tie in themes like family and overcoming obstacles, but the execution was pretty terrible. This film feels like a rip-off of ET, mostly because it is. Certain scenes almost feel like a copy, and the score doesn't help, either.

The song and dance number, about an hour in, is one of the biggest warped mindtrips I have experienced. I was floored. I still can't believe it actually happened.

And the ending. My gosh.
