Review of Mac and Me (1988) by Alvaro S — 14 Mar 2014
On the surface, Mac and Me is a completely inept, inert ET rip-off with catastrophic product placement and a genuinely offensive premise. Underneath, uhm, yeah, it's exactly that, but that's not to say that unintentional hilarity doesn't lurk around every corner. Or down every cliff. Or in every McDonald's corporation restaurant.
With scenes ranging from a Marty McFly-esque wheelchair getaway and an elaborate dance sequence starring Ronald McDonald himself, right up to (spoiler alert! Like you care anyway...) mute man-in-spandex aliens pledging allegiance to the flag to become US citizens, Mac and Me is all kinds of wrong and all kinds of ridiculous. However, that's precisely why it's a must-see for anyone with a hunger for fast food and bad taste. Brace yourselves.
