Review of Mac and Me (1988) by Mark W — 12 Apr 2011
Kid's film that borrows a lot from E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial. A young disabled boy befriends an alien stranded on Earth, whom he names 'Mac' (Short for Marooned Alien Creature).
This film is notorious for the sheer number of product placement shots, and references to junk food in the script. There is even an out of context musical production number, set in an outlet of a certain multinational fast food chain.
Mac and Me has none of E.T.'s charm or sense of wonder.
