Review of M (1931) by Gregory D — 26 Jul 2010
This has to be a perfectly crafted film. Not only is it an honest look at the mind of a serial killer, but it is an accurate portrait of city life and the people that populate it. Every character in the film is superbly casted--tired police, beggars, grifters, workers, slum children, the bourgeois class, and nighthawks fill the screen and no one seems to be acting.
If there was ever a film that the film-noir movement can be rooted to this is it.
