Review of Lymelife (2008) by Caleb N — 02 May 2009
This dark dramedy about dysfunctional neighbors in late 70s Long Island is the best of '09 so far. It's rare that a cast so precisely compliments each other, as is the case with "Lymelife's" tour-de-force ensemble.
Hennessy as a worrisome mother on the verge of marital breakdown perfectly teams with Baldwin's arrogant husband flaunting an affair. Culkin brothers Kieran and Rory further prove talent in the family name, and Roberts breaks out in her most dynamic role yet as a sexually curious teenager seeking the touch of first love.
As if that's not enough, Hutton and Nixon are unsettling in their portrayals of husband and wife falling fast in the depths of mental instability and emotional ruin.
