Review of Lust in the Dust (1985) by Carl B — 25 Jun 2009
It's most likely because I was such a 'Blazing Saddles' fan, but this was always one of my favorite movies as a kid. Sure, it's immature and crude, but the jokes are funny, the characters have good chemistry, and Lainie Kazan is HOT. Granted, her nude scenes were obviously done with a stand in, but her attitude alone adds a lot of sexiness to the movie.
Despite the R rating, the movie seems to appeal most to teenage boys, for obvious reasons, which actually led to this movie gaining popularity as a basic cable movie, edited for late night television. In many ways, that's the perfect format for it, as the jokes are still funny, and the best parts remain intact.
So if you have the chance, give the movie a look see. I guarantee it'll be funny, and the actors will surprise you with their thoughtful and talented performances, despite the obvious hokiness of the movie itself.
