Review of Lust for a Vampire (1971) by Ricky M — 21 Sep 2008
Second, and weakest in Hammer's Karnstein trilogy.
Story picks up 40 years after The Vampire Lovers but this time CArmilla is played by Yuette Stensgard who while really stunning is nowhere near as good in the role as Pitt.
This is partly not her fault as the character in this is nowhere near as strong, indeed she spends most of the time moping around after her teacher.
This comes in for a lot of flack but I still quite like it, it certainly has its more exploitative moments than earlier Hammer and the song is maybe misjudged during the love scene but at least they are trying something a bit different. And it can be unintentionally funny at times, and the cut rate Christopher Lee is amusing and the end a bit weak, but oddly despite this I still quite liked it!
