Review of Lust, Caution (2007) by Biing L — 02 Jul 2009
Another Ang Lee's masterpiece!
Most critics don't favor this one much when his last film was Brokaback Mountain. How do you top yourself again?
He's done it.
To all the critics that compare "Lust, Caustion" to the Dutch "Blackbook", what the FUCK?
Are they all Jewish?
2 movies may have the similar setting, but totally different theme.
"Blackbook" is about rich jews being victims again. Nazi bad, Jews good. How boring? If you got yourself a nice set of tits, you will survive Holocaust.....sorry but Hollywood needs to stop makinf Nazi film.
We get it...it happened.
"Lust, Caution" is about a woman's sensibility. A naive young woman finds herself in a difficult situation. In between all the chaotic world, her awaken desire overpower her agenda.
Ang Lee focus on an asian taboo....female sexuality.
I can understand why critics don't favor this one due to the explicit sex scenes. Those scenes were the pivotal moment of the film.
Besides that, there were so many beautiful shots in the film that can make "Blackbook" look like an amateur film.
