Beautiful, fascinating, powerful, frustrating. A complex, deep, multi-layered film that really could do with a second viewing. At the time it felt too long and slow but looking back I can understand why.
The sex scenes are remarkable - especially as they force you to focus on their emotional subtexts, rather than their action.
