Review of Lunacy (2005) by Kirk J — 29 May 2007
Watching this film is exactly what I imagine it feels like to be trapped inside an insane asylum. You're afraid and paranoid, you know someone is pulling strings somewhere but none of your conspiracy theories add up.
Nothing going on around you makes any sense, and you have no idea who you can trust, who's trying to help you, or whether anyone is even trying to harm you in the first place. This tightly wound madness only escalates exponentially as the film unfolds, and it manages that exquisite task of being funny, entertaining, and completely disturbing all at once.
I love ?vankmajer, and even I think he's outdone himself with this one. His most excellent feature so far.
