Review of Lucy (2014) by Andrew V — 28 Feb 2015
I actually enjoyed how batsh*t insane this movie was. Seriously wired stuff happens in this movie, like when Lucy's face starts to melt due to the withdrawal of the drugs she's on, what the hell was that.
Or when she just puts a room full of cops to sleep. Jesus Christ were the filmmakers on acid when they made this? It's almost like Lucy not only became one of the X-Men, she became all the X-Men and then some, it was really pretty awesome.
Performances were pretty good, Morgan Freeman turns in a genuinely great performance as usual, it doesn't matter if he's in great movies The Shawshank Redemption or Se7en, or if he's in horrible schlock like Transcendence , he'll give it his all no matter what.
Of course the beautiful Scarlett Johansson did a good job. As usual Luc Besson gives his strong and beautiful visuals in a movie, which makes it a beautiful movie to watch with all the great shots. The action sequences were well directed and entertaining to watch.
A few gripes I had with the movie was the character of Lucy was pretty unrelatable considering she becomes an emotionless crazy person in the first fifteen minutes, and the level of symbolism in the first ten minutes was so overused that it got to first year film student territory.
All and all Lucy was a fun and entertaining movie towatch which I proudly can say I now own on DVD, 7.5/10.
