Review of Lucy (2014) by Wes T — 16 Nov 2015
I wanted it to be so much better than it ended up being.
The trailers made it seem like a movie with an immense amount of potential, even though face value made it seem like someone else's interpretation of Limitless. Unfortunately, the previews told most of the 'story' in the same way that listening to the soundtrack tells most of the story of a musical.
There were few scenes, few interactions, and little development that wasn't already included in a trailer for the movie. I honestly don't understand how the movie lasted so long when the trailers were all so short. While watching this movie didn't make me want to get up and go do something else, I suspect it's only because of Scarlett Johansson (though even paired with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, she wasn't enough to keep me watching Don Jon).
