An unfortunately over-written little puzzle box of a screenplay that's frequently too clever for its own good, peppered with dialogue that's far too cute in the beginning to go as dark as it does in the end.

Josh Hartnett, whom I generally find to be very bland, is actually quite watchable here, and the fact that he keeps up with a stellar cast happily snacking on the scenery is fairly impressive. There's a lovely visual sense to the lighting and set design as well.

The net result winds up being quite entertaining despite the rather jarring tonal shift in the last act. If only it had played things a little less Cary Grant/Katherine Hepburn in the first, it could have been a more memorable thriller.
