Review of Lucky Miles (2007) by Alicia C — 08 Aug 2007
If this movie surprised me in any way it was how lighthearted it was considering the weightiness of the subject matter - boat people and Australia's refugee policy - by implication. But I think that is what I most liked about it; it did not fail to be political despite its humour - the comedy itself dispelled a stigma, waved away bad blood and fear.
"I believe that the stories you tell determine your future. This is especially important in the world that I inhabit, where so many decisions are motivated by fear.".
- Director Michael James Rowland.
