Review of Lucas (1986) by Mykee M — 30 Nov 2008
People need to stop calling everything not modern "CHEESY". There are far more crappy, embarrassing, and cringe-worthy shitfests now than there were in the 80s. This is certainly not a stupid film. Perhaps the ending is a stretch and a bit too happy, but so what? Movies are meant to entertain and draw you in, and by the end of this film, you'll either love or hate the Lucas character, so the ending can either be rewarding or disappointing...
All in all, I think the characters weren't all that sympathetic, and I genuinely got pissed off with Kerri Green's attitude towards Lucas, who had fallen in love with her. PRETTY IN PINK all over...she ends with the popular guy and our lovable loser is left single and heartbroken. But at least he gets a stupid jersey, right???
