LOVING-2016(PG-13)-Dec. 11.

Set in 1958 Virginia, Richard Loving (Joel Edgerton) & Mildred (Ruth Negga,) an interracial couple, decide to get married despite segregation laws in the state of Virginia prohibiting this. Richard & Mildred are soon found out & arrested. Despite the order of the judge to make a choice between imprisonment & leaving the state of Virginia for the next twenty-five years, they return to Virginia for the birth of their child & are once again found out. Although they move to Washington D.C. & try to build a life there, their hearts belong to their home in Virginia which prompts Mildred to write to then Secretary General Robert Kennedy who refers their case to the ACLU beginning a nine year battle that culminates in the Supreme Court. Written & directed by Jeff Nichols, the acclaimed filmmaker behind Midnight Special. The performances from Joel Edgerton & Ruth Negga were remarkably powerful & inspiring. Both Joel & Ruth give Oscar-worthy performances. I am very curious to see the 2011 documentary film "The Loving Story." Loving is a MUST-SEE FILM.
