Review of Lovely Molly (2011) by Robert H — 10 Feb 2014
Lovely Molly isn't as lovely as the title suggests. While the concepts portrayed in this film might have made for an interesting and spooky watch, in the end all I saw was unoriginal, scattered ideas on film.
The film does some good tension and fear at the beginning... when absolutely nothing is happening yet. False scares abound! But once things actually start to take hold, Lovely Molly seems to lose any of that suspense and instead feeds a limp sense of psychological/supernatural horror that forgets the main thing needed to make it work... we have to care. Whether about her, or him, or it, or something, this film doesn't deliver any of that. As such, it doesn't matter whether it be supernatural or psychological... we've already lost interest.
Lovely Molly is a film like many others... good potential meets poor execution.
