Review of Lovely & Amazing (2002) by Brendan P — 26 Mar 2009
Although the themes are distinctly feminine, I still really enjoyed this independent comedy. It's a very tender and naturalistic film that never exaggerates or makes anything seem forced. The cast are all very strong, including the young actress who transforms a somewhat odd and unexplainable adopted daughter character into a believable and sympathetic child.
The score in this film is also particularly good, and I caught myself humming the main theme for a couple hours after it was over. I would definitely recommend this lovely secret to fans of Little Miss Sunshine or Junebug.
