It's easy to draw comparisons with Boogie Nights and other films of the genre, but this is but a lower class attempt at storytelling. The acting is not always entirely convincing and the constant back and forth pace is confusing.
Overall, it's worth watching - even if simply to gain some knowledge of the makings of one of the biggest porn phenomena of all times.
