Review of Love, Simon (2018) by Pietro M — 18 Mar 2018
This movie wins for me in almost every category. The script is crisp, the acting is strong, the jokes are funny, the situations are real, and the representation is there. A cast that includes people of color and a few LGBT actors, and comes from such a dynamic place makes the movie feel genuine.
Each emotional instance of the movie felt real, it was actual representation, not dramatization. As a gay teen who has experienced the same discrimination, the same issues with coming out, and the same drama with being frightened and worried that people wouldn't be accepting, this movie was truly touching.
