Review of Love, Simon (2018) by Emma H — 11 Nov 2018
Not written by people who understand sexual orientation. The entire script is sanctimonious but not in any way realistic -- no boy questions his sexual orientation at the ages in this film. The acting is, in general, poor.
No camaraderie develops and Simon, who has gone through the most suffering, is (again) forced to apologize to everyone else for HIS selfishness. This has been done before. It has always been done poorly, and this is one of the worst.
The lead actor exhibits no human understanding of what it's like to be a gay teen.
