Review of Love, Simon (2018) by Vera Z — 02 Aug 2018

It has been a very long time since I've been obsessed with a movie, but this is it! A long overdue mainstream coming-of-age rom-com with a gay main character. I can't believe this is the first time a movie like this has been made! Based on a wonderful book, the movie makes the story its own.

As someone who has read the book, I was not phased by any of the changes. On the contrary, they worked incredibly well for a movie, which has to be narrated rather differently to a book. The actors are absolutely amazing, especially Nick Robinson, who plays Simon.

You believe everything he says and does immediately. I laughed and cried in the theatre and every time I watched it afterwards. Throw in a crazy cool soundtrack and you have an absolute winner!
