Review of Love Me Tonight (1932) by Tom M — 28 Feb 2011
Lots of interesting touches in this, including a wonderful opening sequence celebrating the rhythms of a Paris morning. Chevalier gives a typically charming, cartoonish performance, MacDonald doesn't add much but doesn't detract either, and Myrna Loy does the best she can with a one-note part; she's better in her crappy role than MacDonald is as the lead.
A great cast of supporting actors, sharp dialogue, and a fine Rodgers and Hart score also help to distinguish this one. Extra points for working the word "jackanapes" into the script.
