Review of Love Me, Love My Doll (2007) by Joe N — 12 Jul 2008
I couldn't believe it: Marlon Brando in a musical? I just had to watch it.
Guys and Dolls is funny, extremely exaggerated, and (sorry to say) a little long--but enjoyable.
Brando plays a cool and very much respected Sky Masterson. His singing isn't the best but his acting is impeccable. Brando gives a great performance. Frank Sinatra does an earnest job, always fun to watch him in action. His screen relationship with Vivian Blaine(Adelaide) works. The couple's chemistry is convincing. Jean Simmons also gets a high five for her role as the Salvation Army lady.
This movie proves you don't have to be a good singer to perform well(Brando and Simmons).
