Review of Love Me If You Dare (2003) by Andy B — 23 Aug 2008
I just didn't like it. Not at all. It came off way too pretentious and selfless for me to care about the characters. Even vulgar at times but some may call it bold or daring I guess.
I was recommended this while looking for something similar to Amelie and the first thing I've gotta say is Amelie is a thousand times better. The only thing similar is the fact both are French films and the oversaturated colour pallete used which I quite like but then the unnecessary use of cgi makes it not so great on second thought. I was only even slightly interested in it like after fifity minutes or so which was when they both had grown up (before that I found it plain irritating) but then they ruin it all with that horrible ending.
It's original and I'd give you that but it's utter rubbish. The only things I liked about it are the visual style, the originality of the storyline (to an extent) and the fact Marion Cotillard is in it. I do appreciate good cinema but I don't think this is it.
"Are you game?".
Shut the fuck up already.
