Review of Love Me If You Dare (2003) by Angela C — 25 Apr 2009
One of the best French movies ever seen since Les choristes. . I saw its DVD several times before but I tempted to buy it just this afternoon after saw 5 different French movies in "Festival Sinema Perancis" along last week.
It follows best friend would-be lovers Julien and Sophie through their trauma childhood. One day, they decided to pull a game involved a tin box: whoever has the box can force the other to perform a dare to get it back.
In the beginning, it seemed that they just performed some practical jokes until they realized all those 'games' lead to seemingly obvious intimate relationship they seem dangerously close to discovering at any moment.
Sort of romantic comedy mixed with black comedy, you can see this part when distinctly sociopathic tendencies that adult Julien and Sophie are developing. Very worth to watch, it's very French: make you laugh, sad, tense, and unpredictable!
