Review of Love Me If You Dare (2003) by Pauline S — 02 Sep 2009
Romantic? For the characters in it, yes. For the audience? Screw that! Who could identify with characters so completely, psychotically self-absorbed that all that matters is their "game", people and reason be damned; a couple of assholes that choose to hurt each other and everyone around them unnecessarily? And if that's the statement, then there's still no way to love their love because the filmmakers have built "characters" and story around a message with little semblance of people and reality.
Alot of great craft aboard, with the visuals, Canet and Cotillard, their intense wit, "La Vie En Rose". Fun to watch, but don't expect to be whisked off your feet. Do they belong together? Yes.
Do I wanna watch? Not really. If you thought Mickie and Mallorie had beautiful love, go for this one. Me? I couldn't wait for them to die!....OOPS!
