Review of Love Jones (1997) by Foxxyna — 13 May 2008
This movie is a pretty honest look at the trials and tribulations of middle-class African Americans in love. When there is a lack of communication, our ability to trust and love unconditionally becomes hindered.
As is displayed in Nina's decision to pursue an old love in NY and his decision to pursue a new woman in Chgo; though both their hearts were with each other. I am a Chicagoan, so I love that they went to real clubs "wild hare" and a stepper's set.
This was before R Kelly even came out with his hit "Step in the name of love" that got the whole country interested in the Chgo two-step. The poetry is witty and seductive and the romance encapsulates the whirlwind of a newfound deep passionate love.
This is truly a classic.
